Biman Bangladesh Airlines will add an extra flight on the Dhaka-Madina-Dhaka route every Sunday starting February 2 to meet the high demand from Saudi-bound passengers.
The decision comes after discussions with the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB), following a request to ease the pressure on ticket availability and prices.
Biman's Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman, confirmed the new weekly flight schedule after an emergency meeting with ATAB, led by President Abdus Salam Aref. The meeting focused on the soaring airfares to Middle Eastern destinations, with ATAB urging the national carrier to take action.
The move aims to address ticket shortages and alleviate the rise in prices, exacerbated by bulk ticket sales without proper documentation requirements.
