The government has suspended two Additional Superintendents of Police (Addl. SPs), Shahidul Islam and Sadek Kawsar Dastgir, under Section 57 of the Public Service Act, 2018.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued separate notifications on January 19, signed by Secretary Nasimul Gani.

Shahidul Islam, serving as Addl. SP at the 16 Armed Police Battalion (APBn), was suspended effective from October 30, 2024, while Sadek Kawsar Dastgir, Addl. SP at the In-Service Training Centre in Sherpur, was suspended from December 12, 2024. Both were suspended in the public interest under the provisions of the Act.

During their suspension, Islam and Dastgir will be attached to the range DIG offices in Sylhet and Khulna, respectively, and will receive a subsistence allowance as per government regulations.
