Interim govt fails to maintain neutrality on some issues: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the interim government has failed to play a neutral role on some issues.

He said: "A neutral government is needed during the elections. We see that the interim government is not able to play a neutral role in some issues. We hope that the interim government will play a neutral role. It will fulfill its responsibility to free the country from the crisis that is in it."

Fakhrul made the allegation during a discussion organized by the Shaheed Asad Parishad at the National Press Club on Thursday, marking the 56th death anniversary of Shaheed Amanullah Mohammad Asaduzzaman.

Fakhrul also criticized the current state of bureaucracy, education, and healthcare, attributing these issues to long-standing problems.

The BNP leader called for swift elections, stressing that a new government must be held accountable for addressing the country's challenges. He also reiterated that the focus should not be on which party wins, but on ensuring the establishment of people's rights.

Fakhrul paid tribute to Shaheed Asad, highlighting his role as an inspiration during the 1969 student-people’s uprising, which led to the ousting of military ruler Ayub Khan.

The discussion was chaired by Dr. Mahbub Ullah, with other prominent speakers including BNP leaders Aman Ullah Aman, Khairul Kabir Khokon, and Junaid Saki of Ganosamhati Andolon.
