Students to form political party: CA Yunus Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus

Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus has said that students are ready to form their own political party and are actively campaigning across the country.

In a recent podcast hosted by Financial Times’ chief foreign affairs commentator Gideon Rachman, Yunus said that students are organizing people nationwide.

The conversation was published in a written format on Thursday (January 30) under the "Rachman Review" podcast.

During the discussion, CA mentioned that when forming the advisory council, he included three students, believing that if they could contribute to the country’s future, they deserved a place in the council.

He said the students are now asking why they should not form their own political party and take a chance.

Muhammad Yunus acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying that students could face political influence from different groups, but they remain committed to their goal.

He stressed that they are determined to protect what they have achieved through their struggles.

When asked about concerns raised by Indian analysts regarding potential Islamist influence in Bangladesh’s politics, Yunus dismissed such fears, stating that he has seen no signs of extremist involvement.

He reiterated that the young generation is dedicated and not driven by personal political ambitions.

"The students are organizing and campaigning across the country. They are working to safeguard their achievements from those who might try to repeat past political patterns," Yunus said.
