Drivers of the battery-operated rickshaw and e-bike blocked the road at Agrabad intersection on Thursday (January 30) to press home their demands.
The protest began at around 12:00 PM in front of the Agrabad Traffic Police Office.
Following the incident vehicular movement came to a halt in the city’s important area.
The Rickshaw, Battery Rickshaw-Van, and E-Bike Struggle Council placed several demands, including reducing the fine for battery-operated vehicles in Chattogram city from Tk 3,250, withdrawing the rule of keeping seized rickshaws and e-bikes in custody for 10 days, and implementing BRTA-approved licenses, policies, route permits, and service lanes.
Niscrit Chakma, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic (West Zone) of CMP, said that the police are following legal procedures and checking necessary documents.
"We have tried to make them understand" he added.
