BGB chief to visit India mid-Feb for talks with BSF DG

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General, Maj Gen Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, is set to visit New Delhi, India, from February 16 to 19 for discussions with Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary.

Sources said that the meeting will focus on important issues, including the fencing of the border and tackling trans-border crime.

Bangladesh and India share a 4,096-kilometer border.

Under border laws, constructing barbed-wire fencing within 150 yards of the border is prohibited. However, India has repeatedly attempted to erect fences in several border areas, violating international border agreements.
