The cabinet today (July 1) approved the formation of a government company for the maintenance of the Padma Bridge. 

A cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved this decision.

Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain informed the reporters after the meeting.

He said the company's authorized capital will be Tk 1,000 crore and its key responsibility will be maintaining Padma Bridge.

The company will have a board of directors of 14 people, he said; there will be representatives from the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Finance, Bridge Department, and Bridge Authority, Cabinet Secretary said.

They would operate as per the Companies Act and approve the manpower structure, he added.
