A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against cricketer and former Magura-2 MP Shakib Al Hasan in a cheque fraud case.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Ziadur Rahman issued the warrant on Sunday (January 19).
The case was filed on December 15 by Shahibur Rahman on behalf of IFIC Bank.
The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and summoned Shakib and four others to appear on January 18.
The other accused are Gazi Shahgir Hossain, Managing Director of Shakib Al Hasan Agro Farm Limited, and the company's directors, Imdadul Haque and Malaika Begum.
According to case documents, Shakib’s agro farm took loans from IFIC Bank’s Banani branch at various times for business purposes. The company issued two cheques, which were dishonored due to insufficient funds. The total amount in the bounced cheques is approximately Tk 4.15 crore.
