DHAKA: As a launching ceremony, Dugdugi, the only legal music distribution company in the country, is set to host a major concert focusing on the best of the underground music scene in Bangladesh at Russian Cultural Center on November 8 of 2013.

In a press release, Dugdugi explained their motives and method of working.
It said: “The Company has acquired the online distribution rights from all major legal copyright holders.”
Through its website, www.dugdugi.com.bd the company aims to expand its delivery system to desktop, smartphones and tablets via native applications for Windows, Macintosh, iOS and Android operating systems distributed.
For music lovers, the music can be streamed for free if they have adequate internet connectivity.
The release also said: “With the help of a search engine, the consumers can search music based on genre. They also can search for their favorite music or find new artists.”
Acording to the release, using the website, music lovers can purchase individual songs or whole albums. The purchases enable the consumer to download the items into their personal device in very high quality, transfer the music to mobile phones and iPods, and listen to them offline.
The release also said that the revenue that is earned from the sales is shared with the copyright holders at a pre-defined rate.
The press release also said about the process of transaction: “The purchase process entails the consumer to select a song or an album. The price of the items are clearly specified in the website`s user-interface. The consumer is then prompted to add funds into their account via a payment medium of their choice. They can purchase scratch cards from select locations around Dhaka and use the secret 14-digit code to add funds into their account. The other mediums include bKash, wherein the consumer would send funds to a specific bKash account and the website would authenticate the transaction and add the balance.
The third and final mechanism of adding balance to the account is with credit and debit cards. This mechanism of transaction would allow the consumer to use their local or international cards to add a pre-defined sum of money to their online accounts which, in turn, would enable them to make purchases on the site.”
