Bangladesh sets world record

DHAKA: Bangladesh set world record by singing its national anthem with 2,54,681 voices together at the National Parade Ground in city’s Tejgaon area on Wednesday morning.

People from all walks of life including student, freedom fighter, Border Gourd Bangladesh (BGB), police Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar, VDP personnel began singing “Amar Sonar Bangla (My golden Bangladesh)” together at 11:20am.

According to organizers, apart from 2,54,681 people, counted by machine, around 60,000 people also sang the national anthem together outside the venue.

It is only a matter of time now to get the official recognition from Guinness World Records.

Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina, all ministers and high officials of government and armed forces tuned the anthem together there.

According to GWR, the greatest number of people to sing the same National or regional anthem at the same time was 121,653, and was achieved by Sahara India Pariwar (India), in Lucknow, India, on 6 May 2013.

Ministry of Cultural Affairs with the cooperation of Bangladesh Armed Forces Division organized the event to mark the Independence Day
