Pabna: Two children drowned in the river Gumani in Chatmohor upazila while bathing for a sport on Sunday afternoon.

The dead are Runa, 5, daughter of Rabiul Karim of village Dhankunia, and her cousin Ashik, 7, son of Esken Ali of Chamta village in Boraigram Upazila of Natore.

Locals said Runa and Ashik, who came to visit their uncle’s home at Dhankunia, went to the river at noon for having a bath. But, they both had a watery burial.   

Later, local people recovered the bodies.
