The Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway has seen a surge in traffic as thousands of holiday travelers continue their journey home ahead of Eid.
Despite the increased pressure, traffic flow remains steady, Banglanews Correspondent reports.
According to the Jamuna Bridge authorities, a total of 29,233 vehicles crossed the bridge in the last 24 hours, generating a toll revenue of Tk 2.57 crore.
Officials reported a significant rise in traffic on Wednesday, the second day of the Eid exodus, compared to the previous day.
According to them, the congestion was particularly noticeable from Elenga to Bangabandhu Bridge.
Of the total vehicles that crossed between midnight Monday and midnight Tuesday, 15,354 were heading toward North Bengal, contributing Tk 1,27,79,100 in tolls. Meanwhile, 13,879 vehicles traveled toward Dhaka, generating Tk 1,29,32,450 in toll revenue.
Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, Executive Engineer of the Jamuna Bridge Site Office under the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, said that vehicles are being processed efficiently through 18 toll booths—nine on each side—including two dedicated booths for motorcycles on each end.
