A female student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was reportedly found dead in her residential room at Bir Protik Taramon Bibi Hall today.

The deceased, Takia Tasnim, was a first-year student of the Geography and Environment department.

According to eyewitnesses, Takia was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in her room around 5:30 am, following an alleged quarrel with her boyfriend.

She was immediately taken to the university's medical center, where doctors on duty pronounced her dead.

Classmates revealed that Takia had been on a video call with her boyfriend during the incident. After the argument, her boyfriend contacted her classmates, urging them to rush to her room and break the door to save her.

Unfortunately, despite their efforts, they were unable to break the door in time. Upon entering, they found her hanging from the fan.
